You can learn more and get your free book right here.  It is my hope that this book will nourish your heart and lift your spirit, and that today’s post (with contributions from some of the amazing mamas featured in the book) will brighten your day.

As a mom, I know that you are busy and that you have so much on your plate.  While our work as mothers is important, sometimes it can be hard, overwhelming, and lonely.  From my personal experience, I understand how easy it is to be consumed by the demands of daily life, to the point of losing any sense of joy or celebration.

For today’s post, I asked mothers who inspired me, to look for what brings them joy in everyday moments.  Each contributor shared a photo along with a brief description of how they’re experiencing joy in the moment.

I hope that their snapshots may bring some joy, love and light into your day, and invite you to go forward, openly seeking the beauty that is all around you.

With love and gratitude for you,

Amanda feeding the birds and squirrels in Cape Town, Collage

Since I began blogging about my youngest daughter, Amanda, I’ve been celebrating the every day little things more than ever. She was not a planned pregnancy, but she has brought us so much joy that we couldn’t imagine life without her. Recently, we visited the Cape Town gardens and saw a few people feeding the birds and squirrels. She wanted to do that too, so the next time we went, we brought suitable food for them. Because of her, my husband and I got to enjoy the moment watching her take in the wonder of it all as the animals eagerly gathered around her for food. The world is a happy place when viewed through the eyes of a child that is loved.

My six-year-old is losing baby teeth faster than we can count them. He says I’m not allowed to wiggle them anymore, because I squeal too loudly. (It’s true.) I’m so excited watching him grow and change, and even though I’ll miss those sweet baby teeth, I love seeing the boy he’s growing into.

My joy cup is overflowing right now as we adopted another dog this week. Jessie the 18 month old Border Collie immediately settled in with our family, loves to kiss us endlessly and is going to be a great “sister” to our dog Evie.

My youngest loves painting.  Her enthusiasm and pure joy are contagious!  I love how she’s in this beautiful stage where she believes she can do anything and that anything she makes is wonderful.
